Goofy Goof is the Ultimate Father, and and was a participant in the Wasteland Killing Game featured in Ronpa and Friends.

Equipped with two motives and finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, Goofy discovers a close friend reeling from a suicide attempt, and opts to commit murder as an act of mercy, vowing to fulfill their dying wish for him to escape to find his family, After failing to frame another participant for their crime, he is found guilty through an apathetic sleuth's deductions, and is executed by MonoBulb.

Appearance[]

While several key details of Goofy's appearance have been carried over, his style in Ronpa And Friends incorporates multiple canon designs of Goofy over the decades. Goofy is a black dog with a beige muzzle, but has stark white rings surrounding his eyes, reminiscent of his appearance in the Mickey Mouse (2013) and Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse (2019) series. He wears his trademark green hat from his base design shown in most Disney promotional material, and dark tan pants. Alongside those, he also wears a green long-sleeved shirt and a vest with a darker shade of green. His ensemble is finished off with a generic pair of dark tan sweatpants, a dress piece of his unique to just Ronpa and Friends.

Killing Game[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Goofy's time prior to the Killing Game, however it is known that he continued to live out of Spoonerville along with his son, Max Goof. Sometime within the early months of the time wiped from his memories, Goofy had sent Max off to a Summer Camp, where an unknown danger prompted its cancellation, sending its participants back to their families. In light of this, Goofy recorded a home video of a barbeque he had with Peg-Leg Pete to show for him once he came home. It is implied that this never came to pass, as Spoonerville would soon be invaded by the Ultimate Despair, where Goofy and Pete would proceed to be captured by the Remnants of Despair, and Max would be later captured and utilized as a hostage for the Killing Game motive used in Chapter 1.

In The Killing Game[]

Prologue[]

Goofy is one of the sixteen participants who are forced to take part in MonoBulb's Killing Game. He regained his senses and awoke in the Ball Room, alongside Minnie.[1] The two of them opted to team up and search the castle to discover any other toons that may be trapped within, and in their search, met up with Donald Duck, and eventually worked their way into finding Mickey asleep on the First Floor Hallway's floor.[2] Returning to the Ball Room to find the rest of the kidnapped participants, he introduced himself to the group as the Ultimate Father, becoming quickly acquainted with Dale Pinetree. After each of the participants exchanged pleasantries, their talks of finding a way out were intercepted by MonoBulb, who proceeded to announce the Killing Game.

Chapter 1[]

Throughout the events of the first chapter, he is quick to trust the group of ultimates through his close bonds with a majority of the participants, and attends Panchito's drinking festivities on one of the first nights within the castle. However, during this time, Goofy had an off-camera interaction with Pete, where the two exchanged promises with one-another to look after each other's kids if something were to happen to the other, as confirmed by later events.[3] Uncharacteristically, however, he began to display apathetic traits and feeling suspicious to those outside his close group, rarely ever engaging in conversation in the Dining Room, and becoming combative and distrustful of Oswald and Daisy Duck after the two failed to elaborate information to him, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse. Mickey would come to discover the cause of this when he found Goofy within the Lounge, relapsing on his smoking addiction after being sober for an extended period of time. As Goofy confided in Mickey on his feelings, he began reflecting on his deceased wife and missing son to Mickey, he asks Mickey to take care of Max should something happen to him, fearing the worst.

After MonoBulb introduced the first motive to the participants, his fate became sealed as his motive video was erroneously swapped with that of his former neighbor, Peg-Leg Pete, seeing his family held captive and tortured to encourage the participants to murder to ensure their safety. In the midst of stretching his legs before bed, he came to meet with Pete in the Dining Room in the midst of his own relapse, having returned to drinking at a rate he hadn't seen since high school. As Pete poised to reaffirm their promise to one-another, Goofy ensured his loyalty to his vow, unaware of the impending implications it would have.[4] After bidding Pete farewell, he went along with his nightly walk, and an hour following this interaction, he happened to still be in the halls when he heard a nearby gunshot, which brought him back to the Dining Room, where he found the body of Pete, reeling on the floor from a failed suicide attempt. Drunk and suffering in despair, he pleaded with Goofy to end his life to ensure both of their families were safe, to which Goofy agreed to without another moment's notice, using the gun given to him at the start of the game to deliver a fatal bullet to the back of Pete's skull.

With little time to spare and terrified of his actions, Goofy's clumsy nature caused him to leave multiple pieces of evidence at the scene of the crime. While his initial evasion proved successful as his escape into the kitchen went undetected, and he was able to rejoin the group following the body discovery, his hasty actions caused him to walk through Pete's blood, allowing the group to later pinpoint the culprit as someone wearing shoes. In addition to being suspected of hiding his true gifted weapon and his relation with the victim, as well as an uncharacteristic quietness during the class trial, Goofy is quickly deduced as the culprit by Chip Pinetree. In spite of Mickey hiding additional damning evidence and his insistence of circumstantial evidence, Goofy admits to his crime, citing his desire to protect Pete's family and ensuring he had no know-how that his actions would bring pain to his friends. Goofy is later convicted in a 14-1 vote and is executed by MonoBulb as the blackened.

Relationships[]

Peg-Leg Pete[]

As the two single fathers and next-door neighbors living in Spoonerville, Goofy has assisted Peter through thick and thin. Goofy once referred to Mickey about how there was a time Pete absolutely hated his guts, until his family helped Pete through his rocky relationship and eventual divorce with his wife, where after being thrown out of his house, offered a helping hand to Pete as he confided in Goofy about his problems. Goofy assisted Pete to get into therapy for his anger and depression, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

This bond continued into the Killing Game as Pete became one of the three people Goofy could trust in the game, and one of two that he frequently spent time with. In turn, Goofy was quite likely the only person Pete could confide with during the Killing Game, and at some time within the early days of their captivity, the two exchanged a vow to look after each other's families in the others' unexpected absence. Following the reveal of the Motive Videos, both of their videos were erroneously swapped with one-another, where this vow was tested as both learned of their families captivity and subsequent tortures. This revelation caused Pete to fall into a destructive despair, which Goofy would soon discover Pete's attempt to take his own life the following night. Due to their exchanged promises, Goofy felt compelled to double down on this trust until the bitter end, and when Pete pleaded with Goofy to take his life so he could escape, Goofy regretfully obliged, delivering the killing blow to him swiftly and painlessly.

Donald Duck[]

While Goofy and Donald hold prolific prominence as the musketeers to the big mouse's extensive repertoire of tales, Goofy and Donald's history coupled with their affinities for family paternity lends itself to the unbreakable duo always having each other's backs. Waking up in the castle together following their perceived kidnappings, they were quick to assist one-another, accompanied by Minnie, and to scout out their surroundings, hoping to find their circle of toons safe and sound in the event that they too found themselves in the same situation. Donald was one of two participants Goofy was seen frequently accompanying, even spending entire mornings with the duck as they investigated the castle.

Mickey Mouse[]

Goofy holds great regard for Disney's main mouse, and the two friends have prolonged a forged bond with one-another dating back to High School. Unsuspecting of the terrors that would await, Goofy treated the kidnapping as a reunion of friends, volunteering as a dependable force for Mickey and Donald into the unknown as if nothing was wrong. However, this bond silently soured once the Killing Game began as Goofy filled his heart with distrust. While he was eager to be apart of talks as a trio alongside Donald, Goofy's distrust for the group circumferenced even his most trusted friends, and he began avoiding even Mickey at times, relapsing on the smoking sobriety of ten years that Mickey and Minnie themselves helped him break. Despite this, he still holds their bond to a great degree, and even brought courage upon himself to extend his promise with Pete unto Mickey, asking him to take care of Max should anything happen to him.

Oswald[]

One of the key contributors to Goofy's distrust of the group emerged from Oswald, with his feuding with Mickey involving their past history. As his vocalized displeasure of the mouse was a major disruption within the group, Goofy shouldered this burden far more than Mickey early on, and even brought himself to insult Oswald behind his back.

Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera[]

Goofy likely has lots of admiration for the Ultimate Superhero. While Goofy was immediately distrustful of those he didn't know, uncharacteristically quiet in any group conversations while in the Dining Room, he was keen on being the first to ask about Fenton's transformation out of the GizmoSuit, confirming his confusion that Fenton wasn't actually a robot.

Trivia[]

  • Goofy's talent, the Ultimate Father, was changed after the first script was written. He would have originally appeared as the Ultimate Comedian.
    • Further evidence is seen in his introduction, when he says "Do you wanna hear a dad joke?" In the original script, he just asks if Dale wants to hear a normal joke.
  • The title of the video on Minnie's tablet, 12/5/1992, is the air date of the final Goof Troop episode.
  • Goofy is the only blackened who was revealed to have not received all possible votes, as Mickey had voted for himself. However, this is likely due to secondary votes being scrapped in subsequent trials.
  • Each of the Halloween costumes the deceased characters wear in the Bonus Content seem to reference a Danganronpa character who holds strong parallels with their attributed participant. However, Goofy's correlation with Hiro is unknown.
